Terms of Service

Last updated: June 24, 2026

Welcome to bensevern.dev. By using this site and the dedupe demo you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. The service

bensevern.dev is the personal portfolio of Ben Severn. It hosts blog posts and an interactive AI spreadsheet-dedupe demo built on open-source data-quality tools (GoldenMatch, GoldenPipe, GoldenCheck, and related libraries). The service also includes GoldenMatch for Excel, a Microsoft Office add-in that finds duplicate rows in a worksheet by sending the range you select to our matching API.

2. Acceptable use

  • Do not upload data you do not have the right to process.
  • Do not upload personal or sensitive data belonging to other people without authorization.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Do not use the service for anything illegal.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of anything you upload. Uploaded files are processed in-memory only and are not persisted after the request completes. Data sent from the GoldenMatch for Excel add-in (the rows you select) is handled the same way, except the optional “save to workspace” action, which stores your data in the workspace you create. See the privacy policy for details.

4. Accounts

Some features require signing in via Clerk. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

5. Disclaimer

The service and the dedupe demo are provided as is, without warranties of any kind. Demo results are illustrative and should not be relied on for production decisions without independent verification.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ben Severn shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site.

7. Open source

The open-source matching libraries are published under their respective open-source licenses (see each package’s repository). Those licenses, not these terms, govern your use of the libraries themselves.

8. Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
